birthday

i got a surprise party!!!! it was great. i didn't even know anything about it, and i felt a little gullible, but still very special. They decorated and baked a cake and everything! oh and then one of my friends jumped out of the closet wearing a speedo and a tiara and chased me when i ran. scary. i guess it's the thought that counts?
and then on Saturday I went thrift store shopping and then we went back to Phil's because "he wanted to eat something" except HEIDI was there!!! yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! i kind of suspected it, but it was great that she came this week cuz it's just perfect in so many ways. and she brought me presents!! my grandparents baked me 3 different kinds of cookies and a bunch of other stuff, and my other grandparents sent me $20! i love birthdays. and Heidi got me an awesome brown toque and some other stuff. and I got daffodils (real), a magazine, a photo album and chocolate from Tam, Jenna, James and Jason. and Phil gave me this coupon book that is just awesome and so special considering he has no money.
oh and I'm 20.

ps. thanks for all the birthday messages

"Goodness is, so to speak, itself: badness is only spoiled goodness. And there must be something good first before it can be spoiled."--C.S. Lewis

hmmm Wednesday. it was supposed to be Twin Day brought to you by the Social Committee, but i think i only saw 2 people dressed up. and yes, they were matching. haha. oh and Tamara walked into her room and found like 40 hundred flowers on her desk! oh sweet sweet James. it was so cute. mmmmmmmm i fell asleep doing homework today, that was kinda nice. I've never been able to nap really. fun fact of the day.
Lately I've been reading C.S. Lewis's book Mere Christianity for Intro to Theology, and seriously it's one of the best books I've ever read. He used to be an Athiest and was converted kind of with the help of J.R.R. Tolkien, and the way he writes is just incredible. I am learning so much from it, and it's just awesome. It sounds kind of geeky, but i love learning and knowledge. It's empowering and makes me feel like i'm doing something worthwhile.
on an almost better note, what am i saying; the best note ever, Heidi is coming in less than two weeks!!!!! i am reallyreallyreally excited. yayayayayay. we will go to IKEA, and it will be wonderful.

looking for a sledghammer to pound out the speedbumps of life...

brilliant revelation from my Spiritual Formations prof, I was getting frustrated because after doing all my homework that involves the Bible, I never really felt like doing devos. Then good old Gareth says with a slight change of the attitude, homework can turn into devos! Again, an example of how stupid I can be. Why didn't I think of that? oh well, problem solved. Side note, did you know that Barabbas' (criminal who's place Jesus took) first name was Jesus? crazy.
Happy 20th Joel (yes i'm aware it was yesterday, and i emailed him like a good friend).

hand sewing...my forte???

its been awhile huh. we got our marks back from last semester and my GPA is 3.84 so i'm pretty pumped about that.
Yesterday was my first Intro to Snowboarding class at Hemlock. Unfortunately, everyone in my class was either a beginner or advanced, and I'm intermediate, so I got stuck with the beginngers, learning how to skateboardish around with one foot on the board. One girl even strapped one foot onto the end of the board and the other foot off the board, so like her strapped-in foot was in the middle of her other foot and the other binding. get it? hilarious. anyways, so we finally got off the bunny hill and only got 3 runs in before it was time to go home. Tonight me and a bunch of girls are gonna make skirts out of pillowcases and then watch the Killers on snl. should be fun times. have a great weekend.

snow

yesterday was awesome. I woke up to snow, and it still hasn't quit. So we had a snowball fight, and Phil took me out for supper and we looked at homes of the rich and wealthy on Eagle Mountain for a bit, saw a deer, took some pictures, watched some O.C., went down to Rotary Stadium where my friends attempted to snowboard down the hill (much laughter), watched some more O.C. and went to bed. Woke up this morning, still snowing, went to the gym with Tam, had some breakfast, found out my one and only class for today is cancelled (YES!) soooooooooo I'm pretty much free for today. i love B.C. ok that's all.

2005 is just a number

in the spirit of the new year, should i reflect or make a resolution? yeah right, who actually reveals their resolutions. i think it's really just a big plot to be able to laugh at people when they fail.
i think the reflecting could be fun.
I started working at Tim Hortons in January, wasn't that a blast. went to Lethbridge with jennybean in March for a week, so awesome. paid off my car loan, decided to go to school in B.C., pierced my nose, quit all jobs and worked at camp, went on various vacations with various people, drove to B.C. with Phil, had my first roommate (love her), went to a concert from which my ears are still ringing, decided to go to Europe, flew home for Christmas.
should there be more?
